FOCUS ON STORYTELLING GIVES HEART TO ALLEN'S WORK

Click on the photos above or the titles here for information about each work: From Honey with Love; Katyń : Stalin’s Massacre and the Triumph of Truth; and Cold Earth.  Allen’s research and writing have been widely acclaimed by critics in the U. S. and abroad—especially in Eastern Europe where the Katyń  tragedy is especially well known.

His is one of the few books about Katyń  that truly humanizes the tragedy.  It became an instant bestseller when the first of three Polish language editions came out in 2006.  Czech, Latvian and Hungarian language editions followed; the first two of these also became bestsellers.

From Honey with Love first appeared in a self-published edition entitled Honey the Dixie Dingo Dog which is no longer in circulation.  It was written primarily for middle graders, but test marketing with Amazon, Barnes and Noble and at book events pointed to a surprisingly large potential readership among adults.  With that in mind, the manuscript was extensively revised and renamed to appeal to a broad audience of young readers and adults.  An active marketing campaign for the book will be carried out during the fall book season.
