My Warrior Queen

Allen Paul

A gripping novel from the international bestselling author of Katyn: Stalin’s Massacre and the Triumph of Truth.

Set in Nazi-occupied Poland in 1944, My Warrior Queen follows a London-based forensic archaeologist sent on a covert mission to uncover a buried truth—one powerful enough to threaten both German and Soviet forces as the war reaches its brutal final year.

In Kraków, a resistance radio operator hiding her Jewish identity fights to survive in a city ruled by fear, betrayal, and shifting loyalties. When their paths collide, truth, resistance, and forbidden love converge in a story of courage, sacrifice, and the cost of speaking when silence is safer.

KATYŃ: Stalin's Massacre and the Triumph of Truth

International bestseller

First published by Scribner’s, the book has been translated into Czech, Hungarian, Latvian and Polish.  It became a bestseller in three of the four.  Its narrative recreates what daily life was like for three Polish families amid momentous events of World War II—from the treacherous Nazi-Soviet invasion in 1939 to rigged postwar elections that sealed Poland’s doom.

The patriarch of each family was among the Polish officers personally ordered by Stalin to be shot. One of the families suffered daily repression under the German General Government. Like thousands of other Poles, two of the families were deported to Siberia, where they nearly died from forced labor, starvation, and neglect. Through painstaking research, the author reconstructs the lives of these families including such stories as a miraculous escape on the last transport of Poles leaving Russia and a mother’s daring ski trek over the Carpathian Mountains to rescue a daughter she had not seen in six years. At the heart of the drama is the Poles’ uncommon belief in “victory in defeat”—that their struggles made them strong and that freedom and independence would inevitably be theirs.

FROM HONEY WITH LOVE: My Life as a Second Chance Dog

Only a stone cold heart would scorn the sparkling brown eyes and big-eared warmth of a young swamp dog named Honey.  Only the cruelest of the cruel would want to shoot her.  And only the stoutest of hearts could thwart that evil deed.  “From Honey with Love” tells the pulse-pounding story of a close brush with death that leads to the deepest of human-canine bonds and, ultimately, to the pinnacle of canine sport.

A trapper’s gun points straight at Honey’s head when Miss Jane pulls up in front his remote cabin, after a day of searching nearby swamps for a kind of dog she rescues - American Dingo.  As she gets out, he hides the gun but can’t hide the young dog at his feet with a bloody gash on her foreleg.

“You trapped her, didn’t you?” Miss Jane asks in stunned disbelief.  “So what if I did?” he hotly replies.  “Can’t get rid of these coyotes soon enough.”

Miss Jane eyes the skins drying on his cabin wall and shakes her head knowingly.  “Haven’t been doing this very long, have you?

“Long enough, I reckon.”

“Then you ought to know this pup’s a American Dingo—not a coyote.”

“Don’t matter—I still git fifty dollars for every one of their hides.”

“I’ll give you fifty and take the dog, bad leg and all.”

The trapper points palms up at the pooch.  “Then take her; she’s all yours.”

College Sports on the Brink of Disaster:The Rise of Pay-for-Play and the fall of the scholar-athlete

College Sports on the Brink of Disaster is a hard-hitting examination of how runaway spending, corruption, and commercial greed have pushed college football and basketball toward collapse. Built on the exploitation of young athletes—many from disadvantaged backgrounds—the system promises riches that almost none will ever see, while universities prioritize winning over education and integrity.

The book challenges the popular push to simply pay players, arguing that pay-for-play would worsen inequality, concentrate talent among wealthy schools, fuel recruiting scandals, expand NCAA control, and further erode the academic mission of higher education.

Rather than vague fixes, the book lays out clear, comprehensive reforms to curb cheating, restore academic priorities, and end the long-standing exploitation at the heart of college sports.
